CSA Energy Chamber Trinidad & Tobago Event

CSA Attends Process Safety Forum

CSA Ocean Sciences (Trinidad) Ltd. (CSA) attended the Process Safety Forum hosted by the Energy Chamber of Trinidad and Tobago on May 28, 2026, at Cara Suites Hotel and Conference Centre in Claxton Bay.

The forum brought together industry leaders and professionals to share experiences, lessons learned, and perspectives on strengthening process safety across the energy sector. It was particularly inspiring to hear how leading organizations are embedding health, safety, security, and environment (HSSE) into their business models and engineering decisions from the outset, ensuring that safety remains a core consideration throughout the lifecycle of projects and operations.

Several key themes emerged throughout the discussions, including the importance of maintaining consistency in safety practices, identifying and mitigating risks early in project development to reduce risks later, and leveraging technology to enhance safety performance. There was also a strong emphasis on fostering engagement at all levels of the organization, ensuring that process safety is embedded in every business activity rather than treated as an afterthought. Collectively, these insights served as a powerful reminder that a sustained commitment to HSSE is fundamental to achieving safe, reliable, and sustainable operations.

As Trinidad and Tobago continues to explore frontiers in deepwater and ultra-deepwater development, it was valuable to hear insights drawn from regional and international experience. The conversations reinforced the importance of learning from past incidents, sharing lessons across companies and borders, and collaborating regionally as an industry to continuously improve safety performance.

At CSA, these discussions strongly align with the work we do every day in support of the energy sector. Through environmental and social impact assessments, environmental permitting and regulatory support, stakeholder engagement and public consultations, environmental baseline studies, offshore environmental surveys, oceanographic and metocean monitoring, biodiversity assessments, environmental monitoring programs, and marine spatial planning initiatives, our team works alongside clients to identify risks early, support informed decision-making, and contribute to responsible project development.

As we continue to support major oil and gas clients in pursuing deepwater and ultra-deepwater desktop and survey projects in Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Suriname, and across the wider Caribbean, we are energized and encouraged by the industry’s commitment to innovation, operational excellence, and a strong process safety culture.

Events like these highlight the tremendous value of knowledge sharing, collaboration, HSSE mentorship, and collective commitment in building a safer energy industry.

Thank you to the Energy Chamber of Trinidad and Tobago for facilitating an inspiring and engaging forum.
